When the weather gets colder its a great time to enjoy a hot tub. There is nothing more inviting than sitting in a steaming hot tub under the stars. We’ve put together a quick check list to help you prepare for your hot tub rental and to make sure you stay cosy and warm!

Hire a gazebo in case of inclement weather, its also an ideal place to hang up your robe and towel to keep you snuggly on the way to and from the hot tub.
Wear a woolly hat! (or swim cap) The steam coming off the water can cool on your head and turn into water which can make your head feel cold. If this does affect you put a hat on in the tub – I promise it works!
Make sure you have adequate lighting around the hot tub. Battery operated or solar are best. Avoid plug in electrical lights near the hot tub – electric and water don’t mix!
Put a non slip mat down where you get in and out the hot tub. If it freezes you wont slip when you are getting in and out of the hot tub. We usually put synthetic grass down as a mat.
Follow the safety instructions and maintenance instructions to make sure you get the most out of your hot tub. Keep your filters clean and the chemicals topped up to ensure lovely clean water when you want to use your hot tub.

Just imagine floating in the lovely warm water under the stars watching everyone elses fireworks go off. Make sure your hot tub party sparkles with these top five tips:

  1. If you have a small garden or you don’t fancy a real fire, try experimenting with fairy lights or use a fire pit. We have found some great ideas and have put them all together on our pinterest board. Its not advisable to have a real fire too close to the hot tub, as most of them are plastic and they don’t like being too close to extreme heat.
  2. Rain, Rain, go away. Don’t let the weather forecast put you off. You can still enjoy using your hot tub by using a gazebo over the top. You can decorate the gazebo with fairy lights (battery operated ones are best) and sit in the hot tub with a sparkler while everyone else gets wet outside in the cold rain! Consider having 2 gazebos next to each other or a large 6x3m gazebo (if space will allow) so you can have somewhere to sit undercover when you aren’t in the hot tub.
  3. If you’re worried about being cold, don’t be! The water can be heated up to 41 degrees, making sure you stay lovely and warm. If you are really concerned there are some reasonable priced outdoor heaters that can be used. Just remember that water and electricity don’t mix so make sure you follow any instructions carefully and keep any electrical appliances the recommended distance away from the hot tub.
  4. Don’t forget some tasty nibbles and warming drinks. We are loving the self service food stations that are trending on Pinterest. Keep hot items warm on a hot plate or in a slow cooker. Keep snacks light, you don’t want to feel too full when you are in the hot tub.
  5. Finally make sure you have some spare towels handy because someone will always forget there towel! Remind your guests to bring towels, robes, and flip flops. Use an over door hanger under the gazebo to keep towels and robes nearby.

6. Try Planet Bounce the trampoline park in Nottingham for tiring out the kids. Its a giant warehouse of interconnect trampolines and I’m reliable informed by my 10 year old “it’s awesome”
7. We can’t forget Rollerworld in our list of tiring activities!! Check out their website for Easter opening times.
8. Head off glamping for a few days. Check out the welovecamping website for campsites with glamping pods in Derbyshire.
9. Dust off your bikes and head off on one of the family friendly trails. Tissington is great for family’s and you can hire bikes if you haven’t got any or the kids have grown out of their’s over the winter!
10. Have a day out in Buxton There’s loads to do – fill up your water bottle from the spring, visit Pooles Cavern and there is also a GoApe. If you don’t fancy driving get a zigzag group from Trent Barton. It covers up to 5 people and costs £13 for the day regardless of how many buses you get on.
